Imagining Where You Are

Imagining Where You Are
August 21, 2016 Kate Gatski

This month we’re excited to try something different! We’ll be sharing a new story here on the blog and then sharing another in our monthly email newsletter. If you want to be sure not to miss a single one, sign up for our emails here. We’ll include a link to the latest blog post in each email.

While I often ramble on about the countryside here on the hill, I try to be unbiased in my passion for scenery. I even go as far as to imagine what the landscape might look like in and around the homes of our customers. I know my mental pictures probably aren’t totally accurate—like anyone who’s read a book and then watched the movie knows, what we see in our mind’s eye doesn’t always line up with reality—but that certainly doesn’t stop me!

This month I was imagining a rural North Carolina dirt road on which you have to travel for many miles to reach your destination. It’s lush and green all around, houses are few and far between, and every now and then you can see a mountain range in the distance. I picture an unmarked pull-off, which is where you slow down and turn in. Just beyond that I picture a gate, and beside that a newly installed mailbox post. Here, deep in the middle of the Appalachian woods, I mentally place one of the newest Gatski custom pieces.

But my mind’s eye is not limited to natural landscapes. I can also picture the stylish, modern interior where a recent custom table base now lives. This home, I’m thinking, is nestled right in the middle of a small town. And then I’m imaging another recent custom table going to a home with a large yard surrounded by well-planned shrubbery. The interior I see is very thoughtfully curated.

While the value of my imaginings is debatable, I find it both comforting and quite satisfying to picture the places where these Gatskis live. So I would love to hear: What is it like where you are? I would love to hear from you about it—so I can picture it as it really is.

In this month’s newsletter, we’ll share more stories about custom work we’ve done recently along with the Gatski of the Month and more! We also share sales and special deals with our newsletter subscribers first, so sign up right here.

And if you’re interested in working with us on a custom piece, whether that’s a mailbox or table something else you’ve been dreaming up, email us at [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you!

    Kate,
Your imaginings could not be more accurate. We greatly enjoy the gatski pieces, both outdoors and in the cabin are the most evoking of joy every time we visit, and we are very grateful for Ben’s and yours artistry!

I can’t take all the credit for this description, I believe you have given us some key details over the years. 🙂 From these we could put together a vision of your home. I am sure it is absolutely beautiful! Thanks again!
