Farm Fresh Design

Farm Fresh Design
April 5, 2010 MePush Web Team

For some time now, I’ve hoped that farming would renew itself. That we would slide away from the tired old images of the farmer and what “he” does.  It’s happening. A new farmer is at the door. They understand how to work with the soil, how to make food with incredible flavor, and how to reach their customers. You can find these farmers in obvious places like at your local farmers market or at farm to table events.

You can also find “signs of a new farmer” in the world of handmade design.  If you sift thru imagery of the decrepit farm and the “cutesy”- you will find a new design emerging – one that celebrates the vitality and beauty of the new farm.

I scouted Etsy for some fresh new farm design. Here is what I found…

grow your garden by sushipot

somewhere in essex county by underabluesky

handprinted orange hen pillow cover by strandredesign

reclaimed american chestnut farm table by newmoonsalvage

fall 2010 CSA farm share by callwool

Vinyl Wall Decal by CirclelineStudio

  4. Hi…just a quick note to say you have a lovely blog…it’s great to see such an inspiring celebration of authentic farming…

We live on Scotland’s east coast (East Neuk of Fife, Scotland)…and there’s an amazing farm shop along the road from us. It’s called The Ardross Farm (Shop), near Elie and it overlooks the sea. They pick their vegetables every day and if they are not sold in the shop that day, the veg is fed to their cattle. It’s a beautiful place and we’re so lucky to have it virtually on our doorstep.

Please look it up if you’re ever in the area.

    xx
